  • An incredible area with very little trail maintenance. It seems like every where you go is uphill. The waters however are beautiful, green and magical.

  • There's something about the geology and geomorphology of this area that creates these large rock outcroppings which can be found on the bottom of these canyons, on various forks of the Eel River. I don't know how it happens, but it is a unique and special feature of the area and they are beautiful.

  • The open oak savannah that clings to the sides of the Eel River canyons is like paradise for me. Open views, surrounded by lush forest, and in the company of California's soulful and omnipresent oaks.

  • I can only imagine what kind of headstrong, resilient people could make it out here over 100 years ago and survive off of the land.
